As soon as I saw this photo the line from a Simon and Garfunkel song came into my mind...."I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets to England, where my heart lies", (or Wigan in my case, running to the chippy in the rain for a "six" of chips wrapped in a little bag fashioned from a page of The Lancashire Evening Post by the chippy-lady). Happy days!
It would be great if those children recognised themselves.
You never know it could happen.
Are we looking towards Scholes, so are the streets to the left William Street up towards Stanley Street ?
That’s what I thought Douglas but it only says Platt Lane on the site where I got it from.
But Platt Lane seemed to be ’ down’ Platt Lane where my friend lived at the very end where the fields began.
Thank you. Trying to get my bearings in the rain !
