Cracking photo anyway - is that wall at the back the one around Great Arce bowling green/park?
That's correct Malc, hey a'v got Brylcream on anall.
Jem I've got a photo you may not have seen, if I can root it out I'll post it this week.
This is a great pic, Jem! Look at all those steps leading up to the front door of the house where the other little boy is walking.A step back in time.
Looks like someone been busy with the donkey stones.
My mums family are all from up there, the Fishers. Tom, Edmund, Frances. Did anyone know them.
Darren I take it that the family in question are the McCormic's from Greatacre.Lived in the end house to passage way that you could get to Bowling green.I new the family but new Eddie best sadly no `longer with us,he left far to early. He was a few years older than me.On the first Wigan Casino allnighter in September 1973,Eddie was on the door (doorman or as they where known then bouncer). He let me and my mate in a side door just before the start,so we where the first into the Casino Allnighter.Eddie I owe you a pint when I meet up with you in the bar above.Remember the girls faces but don't know them.
a trip down memory lane - I lived in nr27 from 1955--1960 odd mid row of the terrace shown .at that time l-r families Mason,Brindle,Latham,Ashcroft - not sure of final name
I was born in that house with the stone steps ,our surname was Sweeney ,i had 3 older sisters ,Sheila ,Cath, and Pat. I was born in 1946
Cracking photo Jem. Christine, what number did you live at? my mother and all her brothers and sisters were born at 31a, although my mother left to get married in 1938 we used to visit the rest of her family who were still there in the 40s, their surname was Myers. PS,I hope they dont owe you any money, lol.
I have replied to your email Roy ,your name is very familier to me
We used to ramble around this area and I remember climbing over the wall in the distance.
Carefree days when we were young in the school holidays.
A lovely photo.
