I served my apprentiship at the vulcan foundry from 1956 to 1962 when these type 4 were being built.this is English electric class 40 no1,introduced 1958,16-cyl 165vt mk2 of 2000bhp at 850rpm.brit railways first order was 200.had the pleasure of delivering some of these to doncaster works with a test enginer.
