Hi Margaret, Is this the Lavery's at Burscough?. If it is, I went there every Wednesday to collect a load of their Slab cakes & Swiss Rolls for Glover's Bakery in Hindley for resale from Glover's vans in 1945. E.T.

Elkes and Fox's, nothing to do with Laverys.Foxes Biscuits of Batley and Elkes biscuits of Uttoxeter I think are still going as separate companies
I have just learnt that my grandfather, William Ashcroft worked here although I am not sure what he did, or when he worked there. Does anyone know anything please that would help me?
does anybody remember a brian lawrence delivery driver from the 60s
Would william Ashcroft be known as Curley Ashcroft from Scarisbrick st Ormskirk he would be about 80 now if so I drove for Elkes in 1961 till they closed Curley then lived around Manor Rd then
Brian Lawrence worked as a driver for Westbrooks cardboard boxes around 1965 to 1968 and I am sure he did drive for Elkes some time before that I worked with him at Westbrooks I also drove for Elkes but at a later time than Bran .i do not know what happened to him after Westbrooks
Jimmy McGee was a van lad at Elkes around 1962 ,/63 and his sister worked on the packing line .I think they lived by the canal Jimmy would be probably 15 or 16 his sister was similar age
