Who's the lucky owner of that £400 plus builders plate I wonder?
I'm not accusing anyone on here by the way.
1979 is a very late date for the loco to carry the number D391. The TOPS system came in in the early to mid 70's after which it would have been 40191. My Ian Allan book for 1973 quotes both numbers for the loco so the number conversion probably happened that year. Might the photos have been take in 1969 rather than 1979

good photo TS.d391 built vulcan foundry from 1958.first order for british railways of 200 locos.English Electric type 4,class 40.I worked on these doing my appentiship.great days,factory completly gone.Sad to see nothing there any more.
