A fire truck built for Manchester Airport by Northern Counties of Wigan. Many were built between the mid 80's and early 90's. Pictures taken by Bernard Borkowicz, Thanks Bernard.

I worked on these early/late summer 1988... Incredible monstrous machines! The fire truck shop was first building on the left as you went through the main gates on Enfield St. Good set of lads in that shop...
The fire trucks were pretty much prototypes when I was there, we learned how to build 'em as we went along. We had 4 fire trucks on the line at one time I recall. Chargehand running the fire truck shop was George... I transferred back over to the body shop before they were finished. Could have been workplace banter but I'm pretty sure that the batch of fire trucks I worked on got sent over to Kuwait and were blown up at the airport by Saddam because they were bright red and not Desert camo.
