An excellent photo submitted by Thomas Sutch some 16 years ago. It shows 42968 heading towards Springs Branch in 1964 from Bickershaw Colliery just passing Bickershaw Junction.

Is this a photo you have colourised, Keith? They bring black-and-white photos to life! That is really lovely and so reminiscent of the last days of steam. I am so glad that steam railways still exist due to the work of enthusiasts.

Yes Irene, I colourised these last three photos. I’m never quite sure whenever I try to enhance and colourise photos, although I’m beginning to get an idea, as to just how they will turn out. I was pleased with these three. Thank you for your comment.

Keith, I put some top quality B/W photos on Wigan World in Work then Printers. If you ever get the chance could you colourise them. I would be very grateful. Item numbers 9033, 18642, 18462, 19262, 20362.
I just thought I'd ask, but don't worry if you don't have the time to manage them.
They are photos of the Wigan Observer newspaper press at Wigan, that my late family was involved with.
Many thanks.

Correct Jaycee. It can be found on the Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth in Shropshire. It has just been overhauled again,so with a bit of luck it can run for another ten year.

Hi Colin, I will certainly look them up and give them 'a go', as they say. I will try them all and post the 'best one', any not posted I could send on to your email address if you wish.

Thank you ‘philbee' for the information about it being found at the Severn Valley Railway, Bridgnorth. I live relatively close and my two grandsons go to school at Bridgnorth. I shall make enquiries to see if they’d like to see a print of this photo.

How do I send you my email address?
Many thanks.

Colin, perhaps if you contact Ron he could send it on to me.

Just an update on the above engine. I contacted Severn Valley Railway and they told me "Yes the loco is back in traffic again here following another overhaul and is now in LMS livery as 13268.
Please do drop the photo off to us, I’m sure the Stanier Mogul Fund would be very grateful.”
I live within 6 miles of the Railway so will drop it off in the next week.

Comment by: RON HUNT on 3rd January 2025 at 14:01

Keith don't forget to get a photo of the engine for a comparison..
