Nighttime installation of the “temporary” Covid ward in 2020 .
Was this one of Boris Johnson's "40 new hospitals" promise?
Since I appear to have gained notoriety for my cynicism in certain quarters David , you’ll understand my reluctance to give a direct answer to that question … but you’re not daft , so I assume you’ll already be aware of my opinion regarding Boris Johnson .
It was a good idea at the time and they are still in use today.
I escorted some to the infirmary.
It is still in use and is now SDEC, Same Day Emergency Care. The staff in there are brilliant and the care second to none. I can vouch for this having seen it first hand.
the staff who worked there when covid struck deserved a medal
I am Wigan born but live near Wolverhampton and would like to echo the views of WN1 Standisher. I have yearly visits for scans at a NHS Wolverhampton Hospital. The fairly recent introduction of these units dismayed me at first but I can’t speak highly enough regarding my treatment. It’s not what it looks like that matters, but the attitude and care shown by staff.
I think the staff would rather have a pay rise to meet inflation than a medal.
I have been in the SDEC unit twice recently, (not for Covid though). and the staff are wonderful.
This unit has been well used both for Covid and Sdec but it took away with a lot of disabled bays which have not been replaced anywhere else in the hospital grounds
