Three Chief Constables

Item #: 33715
Annual Inspection of the Wigan Borough Force in the 1950s, in the grounds of the grammar school.
Pictured are three men who all served as Chief Constables of the force.
On the left of the picture is the then serving Chief Constable Paul Foster.
Second from right David Aitken (then Superintendent) who succeeded Paul Foster as Chief.
Extreme right of pic Bill Taylor (then Inspector). who served as Acting Chief Constable in the short time between David Aitken's retirement, and the force being amalgamated into Lancashire Constabulary.
I believe the uniformed man with his back to the camera is HM Inspector of Constabulary.
