I'm not sure who these men are or what the uniform is. It is likely they were based in the Shevington or Standish area. Can anyone help?

Looks like the WW2 National Fire Service, which took over from the Auxiliary Fire Service in 1941.

It is the National Fire Service. They used to have a station at Lower Ground, so these men are perhaps from there.
When the war started there was the Auxiliary Fire Service to assist the regular brigades, but that was replaced by the NFS.

your right TerryF they were located next to what is now the village club in Standish Lower Ground, some of the men in uniform are Ernie Garner & Ben Holding

What was the reasoning behind those very big belts and buckles some of the chaps are wearing?
