I must remember to look at this house next time I am on the bus to see if a good job was done in repairing it! I don't remember my mam or dad talking about it at the time. As usual the neighbours are out in full force!

Can just imagine the neighbours "chunnering"and saying......"Eeee there were such a bang .....thowt a bomb had dropped!"

Comment by: Eddie. on 16th December 2015 at 18:52

Or an 'and grenade 'appen.

Comment by: Vb on 16th December 2015 at 19:39

Eddie you are not going to let me forget them there 'and grenades! One of these days someone from MI5 will come knocking on my door and I will be in all innocence doing my knitting -dropping stitches all over the place-and I will be carted off!

Bloody good job nobody was standing there.

' chunnerin' , there's another candidate for the revised ' WD of WW. ' I'll insert it in between ' chuck ' and ' clod ' ... ' scutch ' will just have to wait a month or two.

Garry you must be the only compassionate person to have wondered about that! there might have been a second driver on the back seat having a 'nod'. I hope Eddie wasn't driving!!!

Has anyone else noticed the ' sickly ' look on that coach's face ? Mind you, it doesn't have much to laugh about in truth.

Eddie, Sickly looking ?? It says HAPPIWAY on the side of the coach

That was a wet Saturday morning around 1980.

Reminds of that house on the other side of town by the canal bridge at New Springs that got smashed up & damn near demolished a few years ago when a HGV ran into it.
I also seem to remember that many years previously it also got run into by a white porsche 928.

vb, you can see the extent of the repair job on Google Earth Street View. About half of the end wall facing Gordon street is newer brickwork from the pavement to the eaves. I suspect they came close to losing the entire house.

They are good solid houses though built with Accrington brick I think. It makes a difference -I would think any other type of inferior brick and the house would have been a 'gonner'. I know from experience when having jobs done at my own house in"Howfen"
