The number of Watchmaker & Jeweller's shops in Wigan increased greatly in the late 1800s, the Clockmaker however disappeared almost entirely. The British Clock & Watch trade was all but dead by the early 1900s, cheap mass produced imports from the USA and continent finished it off.
