manrider station on main tunnel

I believe a lad I used to know, was a manrider driver there.
His name was Trevor "Bill" jones.
BTW, those roads are like palaces compared to Johnpit & Standish Hall Drift, where I worked..;o)

Art,I remember Trevor jones, diesel driver. Many's the time I've rode out the main tunnels either sat in the "comfort" of his cab or clinging on to the back standing on the buffers.

I've only found this site hence such a gap. I remember well travelling in on the rider, six to a compartment, it was a squeeze, but in winter as the cold air blasted past everyone hid behind another to shelter before the loco set off for the Florida loader and beyond. I also remember the fireman Redfern I think his name who put the fear of god into anyone who took a shortcut from number 3 pit bottom rather than go through the return which we was supposed to do, but in those days as a young fitter it was something you did. Always arriving late and waiting for another rider to be put on, with the fireman jumping up and down cursing us, but that was life at that time.
