Oops! I missed off 2 names:- Leonard Goddard, first one on back row and Paul Cannell, second row, fourth from left.
I wasn't in the class, but remember most of the pupils from 1959 at Upholland Grammar School. How time flies!!!
oops again, another 2 names missed off: John Lewis & Ewan Derbyshire, the last 2 on back row.
I still have this photo. It was taken with Elaine's new brownie camera. Wasn't it a great class and there were some smashing footballers among the lads. what happened to Tommy Lenegan, Paul Cannell and Ewan Derbyshire and May Shaw when they left LGS?
Hi Vivienne, never knew photo was taken with Elaine's camera.
Happy days - can't believe we've all now turned 60. Where have the years gone?
Good to get your comment Kathleen. I have recently moved from Leicester to Northumberland now that we have retired. Elaine still lives in Kitt Green and we chat sometimes. A reunion of sorts would be nice and I am hoping to meet up with Marjorie Worthington, Sheila Molyneux and Helen Houghton sometime this year when I have got over the house move. Have you seen how the school field has almost gone at Lamberhead Green so that the new school can be built. The infants school has gone. It was handy living in the prefabs when we were at school there. Hate being over 60 and the wrinkles!! Best wishes, Viv
Nice to hear how you are Viv, I'm still working but Hubbys retired from teaching, have lived in Standish all our married life. Trying not to think about being 60, and trying hard to stay `Young at Heart' Would be nice to meet up with everyone sometime. Don't forget me if you organise anything. All the Best, Kathleen.
PS) Viv - have a look at a photo in `Places', 'Empress Ballroom' - see if you know anyone. Oh happy days!
May shaw is alive and well, living on a static caravan site near Blackpool, Isaw her 2/3 years ago I have her phone number, Margaret Mcnamara is living in a place called Geelong, Victoria state Australia, She,s remarried I went to her wedding 2/3 years ago, I have her address, phone number, and e-mail number, If any one wants it,You can e-mail me on geronimoderek@yahoo.co.uk
What a blast from the past. Yes it was a great class and wasn't Mr Glover the best teacher ever? Thanks!
Maggie McNamara, Geelong, Victoria, Australia
Hello Margaret! Goodness, how time flies! Happy childhood memories! Never knew you had gone to Australia. Hope you are keeping well.
well margaret what a memory, was it a prefab school?like highfield sec mod.
I to have this photo and last year I left it at the Wigan Observer to be used in their Looking back at Wigan article, but they misplaced the photo! Fortunately I photocopied it first. Two more names missed off - Leonard Goddard on the back row on the left and Paul Cannell sat between Gillian Atty and May Shaw
Oops! Hadn't noticed that the absentees had already been identified- must be old age!
Don't remember this photo or Mr Glover but still remember loads of the names and faces. Lovely to see it, a real blast from the past as I seem to have lost contact with even the people I was friends with at Upholland Grammar. Must be the Lancashire/Yorkshire divide as we left Wigan in 1980 to live on the wrong side of the Pennines!
