Great music teacher, I hated the maths lessons..... she died about 3 yrs ago..could be more.
Miss Whittaker was my favourite teacher and rescued me many a time from the wrath of Miss ? (she had large teeth and taught Geography) I was so afraid of her that I am still hopeless with maps.
Miss whittaker died November 2003. She did teach at the Deanery as well as StMark's. The teacher with the big teeth was Miss Greenough.

I was at St Marks from 1958 to 1962. Mis Whittaker remained my close and dear friend until her death. I would love to hear from my class mates. I have Miss Whittaker's book that she completed when we had a voice test for the choir. It's fascinating and brings many girls names to memory
I think I remember Florence Jackson, did you have long hair and wear glasses, think you had an older sister as well,I was known as Janet Birmingham then
MADE
Made my life hell, she probably felt the same about me.
Recorder lessons we both dreaded.
I adored Miss Wittaker she was such a lovely person, very elegant and gracious, Pat Lawton are you the sister of Lesley,
Leslie Lawton is my brother
I loved Miss Whittaker I was in her recorder group but also played the piano with her She used to let me play in assembly
Miss Whittaker taught us maths and music. I loved music lessons and playing the recorder. I didn't enjoy maths lessons I was afraid to get anything wrong as she had a fondness for throwing the board rubber at pupils who got things wrong
