Used to go out with a girl who went to this school about this time, called Jean Baxter - can't see her though - what a shame !
like the photo.if you know there names why not print them so it will jog the little grey cells while its been a long time.
was the teacher miss rigby she was very strict i went to st marks for 1 year then on to the deanery she also went there
Yes it was Miss Rigby.
I also attended St Mark's Girls School, i left at Easter 1963(age 15). I can't honestly say that i enjoyed my time there!! It was a very strictly run school, the majority of the teachers were, in my opinion extremely strict. Miss Snelson was the Headmistress during my years at St Mark's, very rarely did a smile appear on her face.!!! However i did make a few good friends there, some of whom i'm still in contact with:Margery Swift, Kathleen Earlam, Jean Bibby,(these surnames are their maiden names). Other girls in my year were Susan Baynes,Judith Sutton,Denise Leek,Doris Jones, Norma Cash, Sheila Fairhurst. Some of the teachers names i can recall were Miss Liptrot,Mrs Webster,Miss Whittaker,Miss Wood, Miss Lathom, we also had a French teacher for a while, her name was Mrs Kuttner. If anyone has any more photos of St Mark's from around this time it would be great to see them.
I went to St. Marks school from 1955 to 1959. I absolutely loved it although it was a very strict school. I remember Miss Snelson of course ( old battle axe )Mrs. Barker-geography, Mrs. Sherrington -history, Miss Wilcox english, Miss Whittaker- maths, music & scripture( what a clever teacher she was) Miss Liptrot- science, Miss Latham & Miss Rigby both cookery & domestic science. My most favourite teacher without a doubt was Mollie McLure P.E mistress, I loved her to bits.Anyone out there who was in the same year as me.( would have been born 1944)Some names remembered - Pat Glover, Enid Smallshaw. Olwyn Catterall,Gloria Ainscough, Gladis Dawber, Olive Smith, Alice Cooper to name but a few.By the way my name was Marilyn Longshaw. Be great to hear from anyone of that era.
I went to St Mark's from 64/69 my sisters Kathleen(Ormesher) and grace attended before me.I remember all the teachers mentioned but have no photo's at all of our time there.Does anyone visiting the site have any at all we could look at.Would love to see any of my class pics PLEASE

I went to St. Marks and was in the same year as Jean. I certainly do remember those names that you have mentioned but the thought of that schools sends shivers down my spine. It was not a good experience for me. Have been teaching for 40 years now and hope none of my pupils ever felt the fear that I did at St. Marks.
Hi Stephen Banks, I knew your Mum Audrey at school. Miss Whittaker used to throw the blackboard rubber at her. I remember that so quickly because it shocked me. She wouldn't get away with that today would she? Remember me to your Mum. I joined this class in 1965. I also knew Jean Coleman, and a few others.
Irene Stokes the class photo of 1963. Can you give me a few names please?
A few people have picked me out but I don’t know any of the girls on this photo.
Jean Coleman is the girl on the back row far right.Audrey Banks front row 4 from the right and numerous others I remember. Helen Kretschmar, Linda Malley, Margaret Grice, Pauline Stevanovic, Kathleen Johnson, Christine Bannister.
