I never considered the school appearance as being severe,in fact from the outside,the inside looked very welcoming.The mass of windows made a statement about the school,both honest and open.There certainly was no claustrophobia in those class rooms and it made you feel permanently part of the wider enviroment.

I work in Stirling's first post-modern building and believe me it is most impractical. TLS was admirably suited for its purpose. It never seemed severe at all, but rather a bright airy bulding .
