Due to building delays it was almost Autumn by the time theTLS opened in
September 1953 although the Assembly Hall was still unfinished. For the first few weeks we had to have assembly in the gym but only having first
put on our gym shoes so we wouldn't scratch the immaculate gym floor.
I never really enjoyed my three years at the TLS I always reckoned the building was far more impressive than the teachers who generally were
either incompetent or sadistic. If it had been possible I would quite happily have remained at the WDMTC in Library Street for those three years
John Parkinson who is on the bottom row on the school photo was a bit of
a character. He was always happy to play the part of a female in our school
plays. I suppose someone had to do it.
