A primary school rather than a secondary modern due to the age of the girls, which rules out Moss Lane School. and a church school due to the visit by the vicar, so I would guess St. Nathaniel's or Holy Family. Hope someone can clarify.
This photo was taken in the Zion Methodist Sunday School on Liverpool Road in the mid 1950s. It was the girls club. On the extreme left is the Minister at the time, Rev. Arthur Revell. The lady in front of him is Eileen Clements, the woman at the right hand end is Beatrice Latham who was also the Church Organist. The girls on the back row are: on the end left, Hazel Lunn, 3rd left, June Whittle, then Dorothy Thompson. 3rd from right, back row is Audrey Clark and at the end of the back row, Joan Eastham. Many people will remember the building from the time it was used for school meals.
I can remember going down from St Nathaniel's Infant school for school dinners. I recall how we set off neatly in pairs then began to run when nearing the chapel causing Miss Hindley to try and catch us up shouting all the while!
Also I think the chapel had a thriving AM DRAM group as I remember going to see performances there.
