Found this advertised on eBay - with the reverse showing that the chap on the right was the caretaker, Tom Perry, and the lad sat in the front centre was Frank Denning. Pity no more names were recorded - some may have become WW1 casualties.
Frank Denning is unrecognisable
He had a lifelong connection with the School
I understand he joined in 1908 He returned on the staff in 1923 and left only on reaching retirement age
I
Frank (“Pop”) Denning taught me at WGS in the 50’s. Gassed in WW1. Possibly that, coupled with WW1 experiences, might explain his violent, unexpected outbursts at times. He was a keen apiarist and maintained an apiary of honey bees on one of the flat roofs at the Grammar school. Always mentioned that the sting from them on his arthritic thumb eased the arthritis.
Outbursts there were a plenty
I thought Hedley Forshaw had once been left for dead in 1944 but he has apparently no memory of the occasion
