My learned, yet 'spirited' friend, whom by his own admission requires a decent run, offers his sincere thanks and eternal gratitude to Wigan & Leigh College for its endless patience and understanding during the loan period of the cabinet-size Blackie's, shown here. He also assures the college that its lexicon will continue to be handled with 'uppermost' care and attention. I've noticed back-in-the-day favourites e.g. fetch and methinks, are included in Blackie's and, also, how each are fading away from current usage - it won't be surprising if other favourites are included, as well. It also seems likely that the near future will hear rare mention of these and other linguistic lovelies preceded by an unfair 'Oh yes'. More's the pity.

Never mind excuses on your chum Boardmans behalf Master Gormley. An outstanding property loss of 85 years adds up to a late fee of some.....£8000!!!. Your prompt payment is in your best interests.

Dear Madam - Thankyou for your letter regarding the loan period of my 'spirited' friend's copy of Blackie's. I acknowledge the fact that your letter's contents are of a most serious nature, and as such, the letter will remain in my safe-keeping until my friend's arrival; when it will then be handed over to him. He has some way to go just yet, and the latest report of him is that he has been seen making steady progress in the direction of Mab's Cross. I would like to take this opportunity of asking you for your further kind consideration in this matter, as my friend is of ethereal nature and the facts of your letter when read by him could quite easily leave him crestfallen.
