Seem big lads' for under 13s. Must have been all the school dinners, and milk being drunk. Good photograph.

First time I've ever seen Robbo in a suit and tie, he was always in a track suit, ( not that anyone ever saw him break sweat or do any excersice).

I see Mr. Brace at one end and the sadist at the back but who is the other teacher??

The room on the far right was the Prefects room. Robinson was tragically killed in a car accident in America. His wife was unhurt and still lives in Adlington.

Ron, i know what a lot of former pupils would say about Robinsons death, but, i suppose somebody must have had a good word for the man, not me i'm afraid. Tragic end nevertheless, RIP Robbo. Wherever he is now, let's hope there are no young lads with Dunlop imprinted on their backsides.

Roy my 'tattoo' is spelt POLNUD<g> But in saying that I would rather have the "PUMP"( I must have ended up with buttocks like leather) than endure the end of the showers when you had to go through the COLD SHOWER and Robbo would be waiting there making sure you didn't duck out of it..

I wonder, is this Bob Winnard from Lamberhead Green?

Comment by: Carolaen on 16th February 2016 at 18:42

I along with many other from WGS days don't have fond memories of "Robbo", I didn't know he had been killed in a car crash in America though. Talking of which I don't know if any readers here remember Roger Freeman. He was a friend of mine in WGS (1963-1969). He was a very well known Rally Driver and died in July 2003 in a crash in Oregon with his co driver Mark Lovell. They has been British Open rally champuions in 1983.

I too remember Robbo from TLS days without much pleasure, at least until I could match him at Badminton. The cold shower at the end of a so-called cross country run was purgatory. Missed my train so many times. Robbo's sport was gymnastics. I remember him giving a demonstration on the pommel horse ala Louis Smith these days. Not helpful to 13 year olds though.
