Might that be my second (?) cousin Phillip Croston, second from the right?
What a brilliant photo of a 1950s classroom. This is what Wigan World is about. Thankyou.
I think it his brother Tony but not 100% sure. I am second from left.
Lovely to see photo of Miss Heaton, my teacher from 1941 to 1944
I bought a Bobbsey Twins book at a car boot in Worthing, West Sussex today that was presented to Hilary Chadwick as a 1st prize in Form 2A. Headmaster was Mr Smith. A little bit of your history.
The boy third from the left is my brother Norman Shaw and I also remember Mrs Heaton she was a teacher when I went to school there
Mrs Heaton lived in westhoughton and came to school by bus she was my teacher when i started school in 1949 in later years as a bus driver i used to bring her to school until she retired
It was definitely Tony Croston in the picture not Philip. Philip started the year after this picture and I started the year after that. Three Crostons in the same place recipe for disaster lol.
