Yes Chris, Woodhouse Stadium/Springfield Park. I think our opponents were Ashton Grammar, who were always a very good team, but I can't be sure.

I remember most of these boys, their names escape me, the two I remember is John Handley, Tony O'Malley, the later was in my class.

2nd bottom left is my grandad Tony Omalley.
Didnt we play in some cup final the year previous,I think David Ashcroft was captain and the goal keeper was Alan Wilson.
Tony, I am fairly sure that you are correct. I remember going to "a big match" when both David Ashcroft and Alan Wilson played. They were very good players and I think they played for Wigan Schoolboys. I also remember the name (John) Pearson (I think) who played for another school who was in Wigan Schoolboys at the same time, but also played at a higher level, maybe England schoolboys. (I am stretching my memory here and I could be wrong.)
