Fred ,is that the correct date for the badge ?
the reason I ask is that during my time 53_59 ,the sword ,bell and flag were within the roof line and no date was shown, if you look on the 58 photo you will see that this is the case.
The reason behind them being within the roofline and not protruding was that originally there was a metal badge on the cap which caused many cut hands which led to the three elemnts being positioned as described. Was perhaps the badge changed in 1959 ?
Orrellite. You and Fred should get a life. Who burned down Orrell Rugby Club? Cheers mines a pint of Tetleys.
Routh, 'all in the quest for knowledge, truth, and education' one of Frank Balmer's or Shepherd's I seem to recall
I think the date on the badge refers to the date that Joe Boswell was first employed at WGS.
1597! it was a big hut type structure on 'School Common' in school lane, serious!..check it out...books in History Shop, bottom library street
Routh, oul lad, Joe Boz was NEVER employed at WGS. He was installed. He became part of the fixtures when Napoleon was a lad. !!!
