Could be Andy, but I don't remember any shop on the corner where the van is now, only Stringfellows removal business premises. There was an outdoor licence on the junction with Springfield Rd. , behind where this photo might have been taken from, but it was nothing like in appearance, as the shop in the photo that is driving us all crazy.
I think so at that the white looking buildings front is facing the camera on railway street. The brick makers is behind you can see chimneys but the pub doesn't have any now to match up
Re my earlier post/correction. I have just realised that I was wrong. Stringellows premises weren't where the white van is. They were on Park Rd. where it met the bottom of Springfield Rd.
I don't think it was taken from this angle as all the houses on the left hand side have small front gardens and walls whereas in the other photo when you open the door you step straight on to the pavement.
If it is the Brickmakers ( and its a big if ) I still think it was taken further down the road looking towards Park Road / Springfield Road.
Woodhouse Lane, Park Road, Springfield Road junction is an unusual crossroads and was very close to the old Wigan Athletic football stadium. There used to be a Datsun car showroom here.
Mr X The Datsun garage was where I bought my Datsun Cherry.. It's the only car I have owned that I can't remember anything about???
The garage / car showroom was Mansfield Motors back in the 1970's.
the picture is taken from springfield road, park road is to the left, and woodhouse lane carries on to the right.
quite correct mr t
