I would guess St Nathaniels.
St.Nathaniels, outside the Victora, next to Platt Bridge Station on the bridge.
I agree....St. Nat's. I actually have cine-film of St. Nat's Walking days in the early 1960s, ( it has been put on dvd now though). It is fascinating.
I Don't think it is Platt Bridge next to the Victoria pub. The now defunct railway has a Concrete bridge, (still standing) the one in the photo is Steel.
I too think it’s Walthew Lane Platt Bridge.
If that’s not Platt Waz al eight mi at.
I'm not familiar with this area so I'm not sure if this place is Liverpool Road or not. If you say this is Platt Bridge Station, how do you get to it Peter Walsh.
(Crawl up the embankment)
Vic, I have often wondered about the whereabouts of Platt Bridge Station myself and I enquired on the Platt Bridge Facebook Site last night, and apparently you DID go up the embankment to it! Two people who recall it said there was a niche between the Victoria Hotel and the bridge and there were steps there leading up to the station. I bet people needed to send an order down to The Vic for a brandy after climbing those steps!
I never used this station but I know you went up to it.I remember going to see Dr O’Brian at a surgery in the early 70’s which was a bit further down on the left.I also remember using the phone box a few times.I had quite a few mates from Platt Bridge who went to Moss Lane.
Definitely Liverpool road Platt Bridge outside the Victoria pub, the station was at the side of the pub and if you got the train to Wigan it terminated at Wigan central station opposite the Casino club .
