Great Photo. Let's have more of this kind of photograph. People must have thousands stashed away.
Only just noticed the guy on the diving board. I hope he ain't going to dive into 6' 6" of water from that height???????
Thanks for that photo.I lived there when it was a public hall.I have asked several times for any pics of the baths.
Are you the Allan Hughes who lived in Morden Ave.Brother Richard, sister Doris
I lived on Morden Ave as a kid in the 70's - never saw it with water - played indoor football there a couple of times and spent lots of time in the grounds jumping across the cellar door and running around on the "croft". Wonderful picture - more please!
Hi Ron, I will put more on when I find the time – soon I hope, Hughesthebooze if you had asked my wife about the old photos in the craft shop you could have had a copy months ago, Frank I used to live in Morden Ave in the 80s and 90s but I don’t have any brothers or sisters, but you may know my father-in-law Syd Hibbert though.
Hi Allan i'm talking about the 1940's 1950's,they were related to Hughes the Booze.
great photo, way before my time, but great memories of the hall,me and my mate rena used go all time thanx for sharing xx
Remember having great nights there, playing 5 aside football, great fun.
My grandfather, Frederick Hodgkinson, was the caretaker at the baths after it became a dance hall. One Saturday evening while stoking the boiler in 1929, he was overcome by fumes and was tragically killed. I also remember playing in there when it was deserted, when Mr and Mrs Edgar were the caretakers in the 1950s
Used to play badminton in there at Bryn badminton club until it closed.
