Parkside had many visitors to the pit,from MP's to students and everything in between.On this occasion it was Ray Winstanley,Home Office forensic scientist.Ray was a close personal friend and never passed up the opportunity to get down the pit.Ray was also well known as a local historian,particularly on the history of the Orrell and Winstanley coalfields and has published various books on the subject,he was also long time chairman of Wigan civic trust. Sadly Ray passed away a couple of years ago but can be seen here posing for the camera in the Ince return FSV garage.
