I wanted to get some shots of this event myself but unfortunately i was underground at the time.
I asked an old friend and well known railway photographer Paul Senior to take some shots of this rare event.It is in fact a railtour which traversed all the colliery and freight only lines in the area,37 706 is the loco hauling the rake of coaches under the rapid loader.

This was organised by the Institution of Minining Engineers. On Saturday, 21st September, 1991.
Visiting ICI Winnington, Briggs sidings at Hindlow, Bickershaw Colliery, Parkside Colliery, Fiddlers Ferry Power Station and the Kelbit branch off the West Coast Main Line.
