Thanks again Lyn,
I've got to agree with you about the names. I should have remembered them without your help. Give my regards to your Louise. It was nice to talk to her after all these years. She certainly grown up a lot since I was her Form Teacher but that's only to be expected, in't it?
All the best,
Roy

My brother David Atherton, David Green,Sheila Collister, Jean Lyon,? Paul Robinson,Marjorie Cunliffe. Was our teacher Mrs Aspinall, I was so disappointed not to be on the photo myself especially when I saw Edward Heaton who was my age at that time also my best friend.I will ask our Peter does he recognise anyone else. The photos really made my day, many thanks.I put a photo on walking days from 1953.

Hi Margaret, are you the Margaret Atherton who together with Valerie Jones hid at the back of the bookcases in room 13 when we were having a French lesson? If you're not you'll think I'm mad, if you are you,ll probably be having a laugh. You were lucky Mr.Fowler didn't make Margaret Leach tip the water over the back. Anyway do you think you could put the names you listed with the appropriate faces, I only recognize Paul Robinson but I know the other names.

Lyndon, there are quite a few events of my time with Valerie at Ashton Grammar school that are best left in the past, they were never my best years.Back to the photo, stood next to Eddie is Thomas Cunliffe, not sure of 2 girls.Behind them on 2nd row is Luke Cunliffe,David Atherton my brother who is a GP living in Saddleworth.Opposite side is Malcolmn Topping, Jean Lyon, and Sheila Collister.Behind Thomas is ?Marjorie Cunliffe and David Green,I seem to know the same other ones that you do.Our childhood in Garswood was ace, happy memories, different to the life our grandchildren have.

Margaret, Nice to hear from you after all these years. The years at AGS. were, unfortunately, not my best either. They were good fun and I made many friends but academically it didn't work as well as it should. I only attended Garswood St.Andrews for one year as a sort of guest from age four to five when my mother taught there before starting at Rectory School. I remember Mrs.Aspinall she was very strict. Thanks for putting names to the faces. I thought Laurence Collister's sister and Jean Lyon were Wendy Liptrot and one of the Taberner girls. Best Wishes.

I am the little scruffy one on the front row with the grey socks. I was brought up in the reservoir hose on Arch lane.

Sorry for the typo. I still have this particular photo at home. The teachers were Mrs Aspinall and Mrs Wilson. My name is Michael May.

I knew quite a few of the people on the photo "very likely all" but I'm pretty sure that I was in the following year and also played in the band, also suffering the wrath of Mrs Wilson and even worse Mrs Aspinall if we got it wrong.I lived on Garswood rd near the bottom Arch lane and was great friend's with Thomas Cunliff in particular back then.It would be great to hear from any of the old Hardwood from the old days.Mike Webster.

Don't know if anyone still looks at this photo but my name is Eddie Heaton and I'm the kid on the front with his eyes shut playing the tambourine,(I'd recently upgraded from the triangle). I would
Ike to get in touch with Michael May as I haven't seen him since about 1955. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it a great deal.
