Is this what we called the Lodge Gates which fronted onto Wigan Road?

It could be, or it could be the other lodge on School Lane next to St Maries church

Hi Linda. This is Bert Ryding's son,used to be at Asfield Cottage. I think this is a picture of the lodge gates near St Marie's. I remember our long Sunday evening walks with mum and dad, Pat and Janet which took us on the Beech Walks 'circular'.

This is Beech Lodge, Thomas Darwin was the occupier; the one at the other end is Prospect Lodge.

Remember your parents very well Malcolm. We used to go to your house to buy a ticket to use the tennis courts and in later years I used to work in the Clerk's department at Ashfield House.
