Taken in 1980, to the left can be seen the three tower blocks of Worsley Mesnes, Masefield House, Thackeray House and Dryden House, demolished in the early 1990's. On the right are the two cooling towers and Westwood Power Station, demolished in the late 1980's. Scotsmans Flash is in font of the cooling towers and Park House Farm just to the left of centre. The railway is the Wigan to Liverpool line between Bryn Station and Wigan NW. The photograph was taken from Bryn Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield. Wigan is in the distance.

It has just occurred to me since posting this picture this view towards Wigan, now that the tower blocks, cooling towers and power station are all gone, must be now be very uninspiring!

Any old images of the Art school in Library street (now the town hall I think)?

That's the year I was first born and I lived in park house until 2007. My mum still lives there and my family still have the farm
