Looking at the photo's of abram walking day brings memories flooding back. My Grandma lived in May Ave, and I loved watching all the little girls go by in their fancy dresses, Happy Days.
right Mark, Polly's shop was across across entry (now knocked down).

Hi Phil ,Harrold moved away to the north east somewhere i think.What became of Alice ?i know she got adopted late in life by the chap who had the paper shop(can't remember his name ,he married one of the twins from the prefabs in Parklane.

Tommy Farrimond was his name.The person who had it before was called Jimmy ? Seddon.He left and became the landlord of the Bluebell in Downall Green.Finest pint of Magee's S.M. mild in Lancashire.
yes folks thats warrington road abram top end of lee lane , just in front of mrs wittam,s shop old polly cook.s shop was pulled down yrs ago .
can anyone tell me why Polly Cooks was knocked down .i used to go for our loaf there when i lived at 277 warrington road .
The lady in the flowered dress in the front leading the banner was my Aunty Irene,she was a lovely lady and spent her life helping with all the children at church with sunday school and the wonderful walking days, my sister Pearl Ascroft and myself Edna Ascroft (then) have wonderful memories of those wonderful days we were brought up properly and had a lovely wonderful childhood.And thank all our family for that,we lived at 487 Warrington Road my sister still lives in Abram in Maple Grove (Pearl Cunliffe),I got married and twenty eight years ago we moved to live in Plymouth and have a lovely life here, but look back with fond memories of our chilhood in Abram.
Tha lady in the flowered dress is my gorgeous mum, sadly she died in 1985 at the age of 55.
I lived on Lee lane no 24.went to Abram school. Great times. Was in walking days .
