The old Asda opened about 1978, and the car park of the new Asda is on the site. There is a Datsun Cherry and Morris Ital (facelifted Marina) in this early 1980s photograph on a miserable winter day. I remember GMT operating the Asda free bus from town at this time, but this was misused by people who lived in the Scot Lane area who could go on a bus without paying the fare.
