John
Going towards Clarington Brook up Scholefield Lane, turn left off into Catherine Street, pass St Catherine's Church, pass Church Grove. next street on right hand side is Cecil Street.

or from clarington brook,,top of birkett street,,was born in clarington brook and was always lead to believe from relations, that there was a lampost at the junction at the top of birkett bank where it joined hardybutts straight on.. and scofield lane to the right,,the lampost was situated int he middle so to speak,,forming a kind of early roundabout,,,,which was blown up in that same raid,,,,sounds feasable,,,if you trace a line from the street where the people where killed near the grove across to cecil,,would be along the the line where a stick of bombs would fall from a movin aircraft/zepplin,,,

Hello Jimmy, my son (age 24) has just bought the end house in Cecil Street No. 2 which is shown clearly on the photograph with the children. Is there any chance of you copying them to me - I would gladly pay costs - I would like to have them put on canvas as a surprise housewarming present for him. You also mention in the comments section 9th October 08 that you would be posting further photographs of Cecil Street - did you do this? I can't seem to find them.
Kind regards.
