Yet another row of architecturally beautiful buildings destroyed by Wigan council in the name of progress!!
If the Acropolis or the Colosseum were in Wigan, they would be demolished and replaced with a multi storey car park.
You're not wrong there Mick. The horseshoe pub on the corner was a lovely building, as was the old history shop. How long before the old mayors chambers get flattened I wonder !! Wigan could have rivalled Chester if money had been spent renovating instead of demolishing.
When is it all going to stop....thats what I want to know ?
Get who ever is doing all this, OUT, vote with you feet !!
I hear ya russ, they ripped Wigan apart they call it progress how laughable is that! one of the oldest town in Lancashire, thousand years old, they wouldnt do that in Chester or York ., no history to look at here now, shame.
can anyone tell me in what category are these pics going into, I am dying to show them to my daughter but I would hate to lose them so are they walking days, schools, street scenes.places, people, sports, assorted, please let me know.
one of my old school mates from St Georges,Ken Culshaw's mam and dad had the Horseshoe in late 60's,early 70's if i am not mistaken. Not seen Cully for ages
the paper shop used to be run by a lady called lizzie she had a son called sheldon and a lovely labrador dog, i cant remember its name but it used to to hold a lolly between its paws and lick it. This was in the mid 70s........
