Geoff Ball Lived in in a shop in Pickup st Ince he was the most unlucky lad I knew, when he was at St Williams a stone wall fell on him breaking his leg. then while putting a shovel of coal on the fire, there was a live detonator from the pit still in the coal it nearly blew the shop to bits. he had a lovely sister named Denise, last time I saw her she had a hairdressers in Ince green lane..
Gerry, I don't know if you'll see this message or not but did Geoff die in this explosion? I didn't hear anything about this.
No Margaret, Geoff did not die he went on to marry a girl from the bryn area.
I was with Geoff when the stone fell on his leg. The bloody wound on his leg scared me stiff, but I ran for help. The only 'heroic' act I have ever done in my life! I think that the 'Gerry' in this article is my brother. Is that you bro'?
Aye Its me Bill. The stone wall was outside Dr Chezniaks surgery in Ince green lane. It was only a small wall but it fell on his leg. no-one ever repaired it (the wall not his leg) Happy days.....for us, Not Geoff
