Hi James what memories this brought back, putting names as well fantistic, I live down in Lyndhurst Hants for 40yrs, only get up occasionally, and have only ever seen David Devine in the Market Hall, though he wasnt in our class.
Hi Keith hope you are well glad it brought your school days back, they were quite happy times in the main.Sadly there are a few on the photo who are no longer with us.Regards Jim
Well this is one for the books, I'd say I remember about 90% of these guys, I think Billy Tweedale passed away at the end of that year, a really nice kid. Haven't seen any of these lads in recent years. I ran into Derek Finch a few times around Newtown. My second cousin Paul Melling passed away a few years ago for heart attack. George Bourne work for the post office in the seventies I used to see him in town centre, quite often. Gordie Brown lives in Austin Texas, I had e-mail from him a couple of years ago. Malcolm Foster took over his mother's hair salon in Newtown. Alfie Smith moved to the Isle of Man at the end of that school year I believe. I came to Chicago in 1990 after a couple of years in California, which in turned followed two incredible years in Saudi Arabia.
What memories this picture brings back. I could still recognise most of the boys in the picture although my memory is not as good as James Muldoon's. What a riot that class was, we didn't learn much, but we could really use a spade. Dickie had us digging potato drills most of the time. Sadly some of the boys have now passed away.
Jim. That's quite an evocative shot, thank's for posting it. As David Simm mentioned, I've been in the US for over 30 years, after previously working out of London and spending time in France and Germany.
I have good memories of those days, and remember spending time with many of those boys. I get back to the UK reasonably often, but rarely meet anyone from those days, which is a shame.
