c1962 water tank ladder on Whelley loop line in Higher Ince. The old Belle Green School is in the direct background partly obscured by the tank pillar. You can just see the sleeper fence in front of the houses in Belle Green Lane to the right distance which marked the Springs Branch Line but I don't think that it was there in 1962 - there's no sign of a bridge for it to go under the Whelley loop. I could be wrong.
Three steps off the floor was about as brave as I could be then. In fact, it's not much different today. And, I've still got the same belly and height problems. Nice to see that I managed to disguise my terror with a nonchalant leg.

I went to the old Belle Green School.
My first teacher was Mrs. Major.
Her husband was the painter Theadore Major.
The lollypop man was called George.
I believe that the Railway line from the Top Place Steel Works did go under the Whelley Loop Linejust before the Whelley Loop Line crossed Belle Green Lane near to the scholl.
I can still smell the engine smoke in my memory.
The Line from the Top Place was gone before I ever remember seeing it.
