Winnie, As far as I know Harry doesnt have a relation called Edward or Mary Ann,most of Harrys family came from Pemberton and Goose Green.

Comment by: Anne on 27th March 2008 at 21:36

Jono , forgot to say the photo could have been taken around the 1960s

Comment by: Jono on 28th March 2008 at 10:16

Anne,
Thank you for those names. I was asking as the chap in the middle looked very much like my grand father who lived in Goose Green, but it would appear not to be him. I always remember my grandmother talking about a friend she had called Mary Charnock, so I thought it may all be linked - probably not !!

Comment by: Anne on 28th March 2008 at 14:14

Jono, What was the name of your grandfather. Did Mary live in Goose Green? I could always ask my other Uncle to see if he recognizes your grandfathers name.

Comment by: Jono on 28th March 2008 at 14:51

Anne
He was known as Harry Rigby. He and my grandmother (Beattie) lived on Warrington Road, Goose Green, opposite to where Tyrer Avenue is. I don't know where Mary lived. I've got a memory for names and faces, and it's one my gran mentioned often.

My gran lived in Bentinck st, maiden name was Sarah (Sally) Baldwin and i'm pretty sure she had a brother Edward. I'm wondering if this was him in the picture?

I remember a lot of the names of the men in this photo, Edward Whallry was married to my cousin Dorothy ( Bradshaw ) and l think she was related to the Charnocks.

Hi Anne,
I wodered if you were the person who mentioned on the Ancestry website a few years ago that you were interested in the Charnock and Parkinson families of Wigan. That person also mentioned a connection with Henry Bowen and Daniel Robert Bowen of Morriston, Swansea. I am a descendent of the Bowen family and have amased a lot of information on the Bowen family. They are quite an interesting clan. I would love to know your connection with that family. Could someone put me in touch with Anne Bowen (Baxter)?

Comment by: margaret mihell on 19th February 2013 at 10:17

I have a tenuous connection to Daniel Robert Bowen. He married a relation of my mother,Annie Higson in Wigan. I think they had two boys,Leonard and Clifford.Annie had an interesting background. My mother's middle name was Bowen...apparently in honour of Daniel.I would be interested to find out more.
