I am at a total loss to know where this is. I am thinking maybe the rucks that lay below the Whelley loop line in turn below the Rabbit Rocks or from within the Hemfield Road slag heaps both in Ince.
It's just not in my memory and I feel that I have missed out in not having seen this.
I would much appreciate any help in identifying this spot.
having looked at it i cant recall the place
the rucks just below the whelley loop line you mentioned, if i recall, these were mainly red shale and i cant recall them being so tall
i will rack my brains over this one
I think the photo was taken in the area where the old rubber dump used to be, there was a dirt road running behind the bank you can see, and the slope going upwards went towards a kind of ampitheatre in the slaggy, if I remember correctly there was a very steep climb to the top from in there, with a slight overhang, it used to to scare the living daylights out of us, but if you managed to climb it you were cock of the roost, not many did it, also that was where I learned to drive with my old friend Kenny Walls in an old post office van, a morris minor if I remember right, Peter will remember Kenny, he lived near him in langdale, sadly he died a long time ago, but what memories that slaggy brings back.
I'd a tanner each on the pair of you to come in. Thank you both. Sorry Aitch, I still don't know where this is. Can you slip a bit of geography in?
I reckon it's facing North with the evening sun away left - good light in the evening - what's it near to? Can't be too far out 'cos there's someone walking dogs on the central roadway.
Your comments are always appreciated.
I think it was taken from the back of the slag tip roughly were the commercial pub is looking towards liverpool road !!! to the left looking at the scene were a lot of small brick buildings, albeit in disrepair, the remnants of the old top place steel works, ???
