My father at Highfield School when it was Pemberton Colliery School. The Teacher was George Millard. George was still teaching at Highfield in 1945. Dad was 2nd from the left on the front row. He was 8 yrs old at the time that the pic was taken. Note the amount of lads wearing clogs. I wore them myself to school and the ones with clogs had a great time after Saturday night dances had taken place in the hall. The floor was slippery with French chalk and made a great sliding place.

my dad was 4th from left on 2nd row. william alker.lived in tanpit cottages winstanley, when photo was taken. then lived 101 pemberton road winstanley. chris
