I am pretty sure that "Bert" Sutcliffe, the mathematics teacher took this photo.

You’re correct Ed. This photo was used on a calendar which the school sold to raise funds.

I do wish credits were given to the actual photographers. I get so annoyed at seeing credits given to the likes of Frank Orrell when all he did is copy old pictures by myself (and other former Observer/Evening Post/Wigan Reporter photographers) to use in his books.
