in remember the petrol pumps at the bike shop
i`m sure the proprietors name was atherton
petrol was 4/10p per gallon in 1965
the shop just to the left of the bus used to be drapers peter draper was in my class at rose bridge school
The shop to the left of the bus was Woodcocks Toffee shop as I remember when I lived in Ince Hall, I have heard of the Drapers shop but the only one I recall was nearer to Ince Bar opposite the bottom of Careless Lane, I used to deliver their shop order for them from Cheetham and Hiltons Grocers round about 1967/8.
Re... petrol pumps, proprietors were named atherton, shop was known locally as Riahs, they sold bicycle tyres, they were always on top shelf wrapped in yellow celaphane paper, the shop smelt of oil, petrol, rubber, all rolled into one, magic, they should bottle it
the shop on the corner was owen by Drapers before we bought it in around 67 an elderly lady lived in the house on the right then laylands wallpaper then pars grates going to crooks grocarys which dad bought and turned in to a bakary
ria was my dads aunt, her name was gibson before she married.my dad lived in pickup st then later in west st,he moved to hindley after he married my mother.
