My Grandmother was Mrs Edith Owen who lived at 16 Stopford St.( pictured in the background on the right }. The Owen family lived at no 16 for approx. 60yrs. My Grandfather died in 1962. My sister and I used to play in the School Yard on holidays from the Midlands. Our mother Edith May Owen was at Ince Central in 1918. I have only just discovered Wigan World and the memories it re-kindles are so vivid - Many Thanks
Just seen this photo by chance thinking my husband Graham Pearson may have been on it but he was only 8 in 1953, however he is on later photos of the football team. Coincidentally, I lived at 16 Stopford Street from 1962 to 1970 then moved to No. 4 after marrying Graham, but my dad and sister remained there and dad left in 1981when it was then sold. Small world!!
Was the boy second from left on the back row the brother of Jean who was in my class? They lived on Petticoat Lane.
