We got our first suite from here when we bought our first house. It was tan leatherette with tweedy cushions. Also the living room carpet fitted and stairs.
It seemed dead posh.
Thanks Ron.
Veronica, you must have bought that from my dad, he worked there as a salesman, late fifties until the closed in the 60’s then went to Waring & Gillow.
I remember The Ribble Cabinet Company, and recall accompanying my future sister-in-law to put deposits down on some items of furniture, (to be followed by weekly payments), for items of furniture to furnish the house that she and my brother Colin were moving into after their wedding, This was in 1961, and I was only nine years old, but I vividly remember her saying to me on the bus that she felt very rich as she had £22 in her purse! It wouldn't go very far today! Millgate had such character back then.
It may well have been your dad Colin. It was a man who attended to us. We had already had a look in the rival’s across the road.
