So sad to see I went to see the Ten Commandments there with my aunt Helena we sat on the double seats and the parting of the red sea was amazing

As Ron knows,my Sons band practice up stairs at the County now..and I still have one of the tickets of when myself and his Dad used to go there during our courting days..talk about what goes around comes around.

WOT ! no Hi-vis, well not back then but one thing as not changed, one chap always leaning on something watching his mate put the effort in !. this still happens today. Great phot Ron isn't it.

My first date, Summer 1963, with my then to be wife was in the County cinema, upstairs in the double courting seats.
Health and safety would have a 'field day' with them two lads today, as Wigginlad says, no hi-vis, plus no ear defenders, no goggles, etc.
On the left of the building is the entrance to one of WW's most spoken about alley ways leading to the bridge across the railway line and the North Western station.

Roy,if I had a penny for every time I crossed that bridge I'd have a beautiful little cottage in the Yorkshire Dales by now....just wishful thinking.

As previously stated. Went to the matinee, on Boxing Day, 1961, my wife, and I. Saw the film ‘ Guns’ of Navarone’.

The lad leaning on the compressor looks like Eddie Wilkinson worked for water board also played rugby for wigan and st pats

We all must have gone to the County, Maureen and Albert, in our courting day's, we saw The guns of Navarone about 5 times.Too young to go anywhere else!!

Albert, Edna. My overriding memory of the Guns of Navarone is that was on for week after week, afterbweek. I think the programmes for the pictures used to be on the front of the Observer in those days.

I also remember watching The Guns of Naverone at the County and still enjoy it,also remember watching The Alamo at the Court Cimema with my first girlfriend.Happy days.

Worked with him on water board sadly past away quite young.

Tom ; eddie went to All Saints school in frog lane,also signed for wigan rl ,i think he was 50 when he passed away ,far to young.

Yes Carolaen, The Guns of Navarone was on for six week.By the end of the fifth week we had, had enough.

Eddie Wilkinson Plumber was in the same class at Wigan Technical College good lad died far too young.

Wigginlad the reason Eddie is leaning on the compressor is his job starts when the labourer gets down to the pipework Eddie being the skilled man.No derision intended that is just how it was.
