David it should be westwood road poolstock.Westwood lane is in Lower Ince.
You're right, of course, gibe. I should have remembered that Roads turn to Lanes one they cross the boundary into Wigan.
That, of course, is not true Rev David Long. Of all the roads that enter Wigan, I can name just one which turns into a Lane from a Road and that's the A49 from Standish.
On the contrary, I can name two Lanes which lose their title when entering Wigan. That's Scot Lane which changes to Beech Hill Avenue and Poolstock Lane which changes to Poolstock, both on entering Wigan.
You're nearly right, John - I realised as soon as I'd sent it that the Westwood Road/ Lane change happens the other way round - the Road changing to Lane as it leaves Wigan. But - Warrington Road changes to Warrington Lane at the Boundary Street border beside Britannia Bridge
You'll find it doesn't. It changes to Warrington 'Lane' after it crosses Darlington Street.
According to Google Earth... but not according to my A-Z , or Old Maps....
John’s correct. The addresses between Boundary Street and Darlington Street are Warrington Road.
Warrington Lane is from Darlington Street towards Scholes.

That is certainly the way that the road is signposted now - but it does not change the historical fact that Warrington Road, Ince, became Warrington Lane, Wigan at the Britannia Bridge boundary.
Right. So, taking David Long's word for it, we've got Warrington Road to Lane coming in from Ince. We've got Wigan Road to Lane coming in from Standish. That's two out of ten.
I declare Noakesy the winner, all Roads do not turn to Lanes once they cross the boundary into Wigan. Although two of the ten do. Can anybody name the other eight that don't?
