If they dont shape themselves they will be playing on a ground with no stands
I agree peterp it's very disheartening and with the latest buy out failing again i do wonder were do they go from here ?
It's a disgrace.
How can a club like Wigan Rugby justify staying in that stadium and Latics are almost on the street?
Just shows how thick Wiganers really are.
They would rather watch tick rugby than decent football.
I'll go to the top of our stairs!
What's wigan rugby got to do with what happened ?
I am comparing the two clubs and their subsequent fates in these awful times.
Latics find themselves abandoned by all and sundry, and yet Wigan Rugby seem to be untouchable as keepers of the castle. What's all that about? Don't tell me: Wigan Rugby are are a better run club and have more support?
The answers are always the same: THICK Wiganers don't appreciate ART.
Remember that new chippy near to the ground? Was the best thing that happened for fish and chips in the town...And yet after only months after opening, it was abandoned....And the queue outside the Bowling Green chippy doubled...
Wigan folk didn't want posh and classy stuff...No no...it was back to dirty newspapers and filthy floors...
Bit like footy and rugby: Wiganers don't want Arsenal coming to town. They much prefer Featherstone Rovers...If they're lucky.
Sad.
Of course they'd prefer Featherstone Rovers, jarvo. They've got more chance of a win against Featherstone Rovers, albeit ever so slight.
Peter.......... just a quick one ......... i am 50 very soon... and a very proud pie eater..... ANYTHING what says wigan...... i follow and want the best pal...if its the tiddley winks final ?...or the wigan snail challenge?..... OR THE WIGAN rlfc challenge cup final..... the wigan latics v city FA CUP FINAL ........ I WAS THERE......IVE followed ........... MY wigan everywere.....wigan is my home and in my heart
what a sad person grow up Jarvo
This is a bloke (Jarvo) from a part of Wigan, i won't say which part, calling Wiganers thick, AND, a bloke who supports a football team from the Black country WW, no not Wigan World, Wolverhampton Wanderers God help us.
WRLFC have helped to keep the Tic's afloat for quite a while now, had it not been for them they could have possibly been in a worse place than they are. I, like Chris Charnock, want anything associated with Wigan to succeed, obviously you are very single minded and are not in the same frame of mind.
I don't think jarvo knows much about the sporting achievements of wigan he is very sad????
mj: Sad? Why I am sad? It's the truth...Christopher Charnock has just confirmed it.
'Dim' comes to mind.
:(
May be he is from another planet not wigan my guess Uranus jarvis
Henry, you mention "the sporting achievements of Wigan". But 'Wigan', as a town, doesn't have any sporting achievements. Wigan Athletic, as a team, have, but only through buying better players. When they were in the premiership, how many players were Wiganers? If some wealthy foreigner comes along and takes over, buys several top class foreign players, any achievements will not be as a result of the team being called "Wigan" athletic.
'WRLFC have helped to keep the Tic's afloat for quite a while now, had it not been for them they could have possibly been in a worse place than they are.'
Could you expand on that please? My understanding is that Dave Whelan, Premier league monies and parachute payments have funded Latics rise from the old League 2 to eight seasons in the PL, FA cup win and twice league 1 champions in recent years. In addition, recent reports of the contribution of the percentage of gate receipts received from WW represents only a fraction of the cost of returfing the pitch.
James I am talking about all sports men and women who represented Wigan not just the latics sorry
Where's all money gone
Is Jarvo just using this as a wind up if not he must be a sorry state of affairs!!!!!!
JARVO. these thick Wiganers, do they include some of your mates who actually PLAYED RUGBY, at Orrell, Stephen and Dave for example ?
IMJ........This is the same bloke, Jarvo, who a few years ago was at Ewood Park, Blackburn sat in the stand at the Darwin end of the ground !!!! Darwin being in Australia, as opposed to Darwen, Lancs. Now tell me who's thick.
James Hanson what are you on about? Wigan as a town doesn't have any sporting achievements? Are you saying any sporting team throughout history doesn't have any sporting achievements? Mind boggling
Bluesfan, no. What I'm saying is, although "sporting teams and individuals throughout history do have sporting achievements", "Wigan, as a town, doesn't have any sporting achievements". That's because Wigan is a town and not a sporting team or individual.
For instance, if you took the word 'Wigan' away and replaced it with 'Liverpool' or 'Manchester', the team would still be crap.
Wigan is the name of a small town.
Henry, gone are the days when sports teams represented their local town in what was then 'inter-town competition'. It's now 'inter-business competition'.
They even refer to the rugby league teams as the Warriors, the Wolves, the Saints, Rhinos, Bulls, Dragons etc., dropping the towns altogether.
Own up, whose been handing out the magic mushrooms?
The Darwen End? Yes, it was the allocation for the Yam Yam's. What about it?
I stick with my point. THICK comes to mind.
As for Dave and Borki? Yes, great gents and they played for my fave 'rugby' team...Orrell R.U.F.C.
And?
Got to disagree chaps. If you look at the names of teams on the FA Cup, you will see Wigan Athletic. Also if you were to look on the Challange Cup and the World Club Challenge Trophy, you will see Wigan RLFC/Warriors. Both these teams are from Wigan in the North West of England ( don't get me started on the Gtr Manchester/ Lancashire rubbish ). Proffesional sport these days is largely a global affair. Gone are the days where Bert off Great George St would grab his boots and pull on the goalie shirt for Latics or Hector off Scholes would finish a shift down the pit to play 2nd row on Central Park. We move with the times and both teams have had some pretty impressive players on their books, in the case of the rugby, world class. ( and I too watch both ). We should be proud of our ' little town ' that once punched above it's weight, and could so again. Just to finish, weekend gone we saw Chorley FC turn Derby County over at Victory Park. How many of their lads actually live in Chorley ?
We can argue, insult each other and more but it doesn't help the Tics get out of their present problem. Lads, collectively we can only hope that a genuine person or group appears in the near future with the right credentials and cash to to get the club back where it belongs, i'm sure the most fair minded of us would agree.
Finally Jarvo, my fave rugby team as well, i played against them as a lad in the Lyon, Litherland and Houghton era and followed them as an adult up and down the country in the Carleton, Cusani and Sammy Southern era.
Couldn't agree more Roy
Good lads those two. Had some good nights. Always liked Orrell and loved doing the half marathon. Was the toughest course in the country having to go up Shaley Brow near the end. One year all runners got free beer at the end. Ended up tipsy going home. Brill times in that Clubhouse.
